Ceviz belki hiç bir meyve türüne nasip olmayacak kadar farklı kullanım alanına sahip bir meyve türüdür. Ülkemizde değişik gıda maddelerinin yapımında kullanılan ceviz içi İlçemizde yapılan ekmek veya çörek içine bırakılarak yapılır ki bunada halk dilinde cevizli fetir diye adlandırılır. Ceviz içi, yeşil kabuğu ve sert meyvesi ile yaprağı, kökü ve gövdesi ile her tarafı faydalı şekilde kullanılma durumunda olan bir meyve türüdür.

ilçemizde 2001 yılından itibaren ceviz şekeri üretimine başlanmıştır. ADİCEVAZ ceviz şekeri insan sağlığı bakımından büyük önem taşımaktadır

SÜPHAN DAGİ EASTERN TURKEY
Volcano types: Stratovolcano Lava domes Pyroclastic cones Summit Elev: 4158 mLatitude: 38.92°NLongitude: 42.82°E Süphan Dagi is a 4158-m-high basaltic-to-rhyolitic stratovolcano located immediately north of Lake Van. A glacial icecap mantles the summit of the volcano, the 2nd highest in Turkey. During construction of the volcano andesitic-dacitic lava flows alternated with fluid basaltic flows, followed by construction of a large lava dome over the central vent. The flanks of the volcano are dotted with numerous lava domes and pyroclastic cones erupted along radial and circumferential fissures, particularly on the northern, souther, and eastern sides. The 1.5-km-wide, low-rimmed Aygirgölü maar was erupted on the lower southern flank. During the latest stage of activity, voluminous basaltic lava flows traveled as far as 30 km from the summit. Potassium-Argon dates for Süphan Dagi range from 2 to about 0.1 million years, but the latest basaltic eruption occurred about 10,000 years ago (Yilmaz et al., 1998).Larger photo with caption and credit.

Day 1 IstanbulArrival to Istanbul Airport and transfer to hotel by agency representative, short info before check in and remainder of day at leisure. Afterwards a short hike through the green Ihlara Valley along the stream visiting some of the churches along the way. Stop in Belisirma for lunch and then on to Selime for a panoramic view. Stop at the Agzikarahan Caravanserai is included. At the end of the tour free at Goreme village before transfer to the bus station for overnight coach back to Istanbul with arrival early the following morning. VAN GÖLÜNÜN BÜYÜLEYİCİ GÜZELLİĞİ

CEVİZ
1989 Yılıdan beri adına festival düzenlenen ceviz ilçemizde yaygın olarak yetiştirilmektedir. İlçemiz cevizcilik alanında adeta doğal bir ceviz bahçesi görünümündedir. Hali hazırda 15.000 adet meyve veren ceviz ağacı mevcuttur. 1990 tarihinde VAN 100.Yıl Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi dekanı Prof.Dr.Seyit Mehmet ŞEN'in ADİLCEVAZ cevizi ile ilgili yapmış olduğu çalışmaları 27 AĞUSTOS - 1 EYLÜL 1990 tarihleri arasında İTALYA'nın Firenze şehrinde yapılan 23 ncü uluslararası ziraat kongresinde kabul görmüş ve kongrede ADİLCEVAZ cevizinin kalitesinin dünya ortalaması üzerinde olduğu belirtilmiştir.
ADİLCEVAZ CEVİZİNİN ÖZELLİKLERİ:
Kabuklu dane ağırlığının yaklaşık 18-25 gram İç randımanın %50 - 60 dış kabuğu ince, iç rengi beyaz kabuktan ayırma kolay, kabuk pürüzsüz, meyve verimi yüksek,hastalıklara karşı dayanıklı gibi kendisine has üstün özelliklere sahiptir.
Ceviz minarel maddelerce zengindir. Bileşimindeki yağlarda doymamış yağü asitleri mevcuttur. Doymamış yağ asitlerinin sağlığa zararlı kollestrol birikimini ve damar sertliğini önleyici etkileri vardır.
Dünyaca ünlü kalp uzmanı Prof.Dr.Garry Frazer'in ceviz hakkında oldukça iddialı sözleri bilim dünyasında bomba etkisi yarattı. Bugüne kadar bilinenlerin sadece bir ön yargı olarak gören bilim adamı gerçeğin dahafarklı olduğunu,cevizin kalbi koruduğunu,hatta enfarktüsü önlediğini idda etmiştir. Frazer ceviz oldukça yağlı bir besin ancak içerdiği yağ sanıldığı gibi zararlı değil yüksek orandaki bu doymuş yağ asitleri,kolesterolü yükseltmiyor,aksine düşürüyor ve aşırıya kaçmamk gerktiğinide vurguluyor.
CEVİZİN FAYDALARI:
Kolesterolü düşürüyor,damar sertliğini önlüyor,hazım bozukluğunu önler,müzmin öksürüğü keser,kara ciğerle ilgili hastalığa iyi gelir,dalak algısı ve mide zaafiyetini önler,felce karşı iyi gelir ve isale karşı önleyici özelliği vardır. Cevizin zehirlenmeleri önleyici özelliği vardır. Veba hastalığına karşı en güzel panzehirdir. Taze ceviz bal ile beraber yenildiğinde basur hastalığına iyi gelmektedir. Taze ceviz yenildiğinde çürük dişlerden gelen ağız kokusunu giderir.
